What we are learning:
Writing: Students will continue generating a list of people, places, and things that are meaningful to them (what's in their hearts). We will also go over strategies to use for coming up with an idea to write a true story, personal narrative. We will complete a quick write to see where the student is at and what we need to focus on.
Reading: Students will be working from a choice board/menu while we are assessing their independent and instructional reading levels and working with them in small groups.
Texas History: We will continue our unit on Geography focusing on Texas regions.
Math: We will continue our unit on extending whole number place value. Students will learn and know the standard form, picture form, expanded form, and word form for various numbers. In addition, they will be able to interpret value of each place value position as ten times the position to the right and as one tenth of the value of the place to its left, comparing/contrasting, and rounding to a given place value.
Science: Students will measure, compare and contrast physical properties of matter, including size, mass, volume, states (solid, liquid, gas), temperature, magnetism, and the ability to sink or float..
